USABL Rules

The USABL 7U Division will follow all standard USABL rules with the following exceptions. Outside of these modified rules, it is regular travel baseball with USABL rules.

  1. The first two and last two innings will be coach pitch. Each batter will get five pitches. The batter is out after three swinging strikes or at the end of five pitches. The 3rd and 4th innings will be player pitch (four balls and three strikes).
    • If the batter fouls off the final pitch, they may continue their at-bat per standard baseball rules.
    • During coach pitch, the player-pitcher must position themselves to the immediate left or right of the coach within the circle of the mound.
  2. No new inning will start after one hour and 45 minutes.
  3. Maximum of five runs per inning, except the last inning. The time limit and 10-run rule will remain in effect.
  4. No bunting.
  5. A batter hit by a pitch is not awarded first base in coach pitch (counts as a pitch). In player pitch, they are awarded first base.
  6. There is no infield fly rule.
  7. No base stealing. Runners can only advance on a ball in play.
  8. Each team gets one warning for a runner leaving early. Second violation: out.
  9. All runners must slide feet first. Head-first slides are called out.
  10. Play stops when the ball is returned to the player-pitcher and in control on the mound. Runners between bases advance to the next base if the umpire determines them halfway or closer.
  11. On an overthrow, runners may advance only one base at their own risk.
  12. Speed-up rule: With two outs, if the catcher for the next inning is a base runner, that player must be replaced by the last batted out or a player not in the lineup.
  13. There will be one umpire in the field.
  14. No protests will be accepted for this division.

    • Player pitching: minimum 40 feet, maximum 46 feet.
