Code of Conduct

The USABL has been established with the sole purpose of promoting the character, citizenship, and community development of our youth by encouraging sportsmanship, fair play, and fellowship through baseball.

It is imperative that all individuals comply with the following code of conduct. This applies to all off-the-field interactions (text, email, social media) and all on-the-field activities.

  • Do not physically or verbally abuse anyone in the program.
  • No physical altercation will be tolerated. Fighting in public is a misdemeanor.
  • No smoking on the field during practice or at game time.
  • Show respect for all parents/guardians, opponents, officials, and coaches at all times.
  • Maintain at ALL times a high level of safety awareness.
  • Do not use abusive, profane, vulgar, or other offensive language and gestures.
  • No consumption or use of alcoholic beverages during practice or at game time.
  • Do not incite unsportsmanlike conduct.
  • Do not seek to undermine the authority of the USABL or the umpires.
  • Set an example by your personal conduct at all times.
  • Winning at all costs is not the message we wish to impart. Have fun, play safe competitive baseball, and encourage sportsmanship.
  • Clean up after your team and fans; remove all trash from the stands and dugout.
  • Always abide by a doctor's decision in all matters of health, injuries, and ability to play.
  • USABL may penalize offenders from a warning to removal from the game and/or league/tournament. Any physical contact with an umpire results in suspension.

24 Hour Rule

All coaches, parents, and players agree to the 24 Hour Rule. USABL will not discuss a game or situation until at least 24 hours have passed — a cooling off period that removes emotion and moves discussions away from players.

Waiver / Release for Communicable Diseases Including COVID-19 — Assumption of Risk / Waiver of Liability / Indemnification Agreement

In consideration of being permitted to participate in USABL athletic programs and related events and activities, the undersigned hereby acknowledges, appreciates, and agrees that:

  1. The risk of injury and/or illness from the activities involved in the program is significant, including the potential for permanent paralysis and death. While particular rules, equipment, and personal discipline may reduce the risk, the risk of serious injury does exist.
  2. The risk of contact with individuals exposed to and/or diagnosed with communicable diseases, including COVID-19, exists and it is impossible to eliminate the risk of exposure.
  3. I KNOWINGLY AND FREELY ASSUME ALL SUCH RISKS, both known and unknown, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE RELEASEES, and assume full responsibility for my participation.
  4. I willingly agree to comply with the stated terms and conditions for participation, including NJDOH guidelines. I acknowledge that my temperature may be taken prior to any scheduled USABL program. If my temperature is above the NJDOH recommended level, or if I show any signs of illness, I may not participate. If within 14 days prior to an event I have been exposed to anyone who tested positive for COVID-19, I may not participate.
  5. I, for myself and on behalf of my heirs, assigns, personal representatives and next of kin, HEREBY RELEASE AND HOLD HARMLESS USABL, their officers, officials, agents and/or employees, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and owners/lessors of premises used to conduct the event, with respect to any and all injury, illness, disability, death, or loss or damage to person or property.
  6. I have read and understood the NJDOH guidelines and agree to comply with all State and Local guidelines. View Here
  7. You acknowledge that USABL may share or post videos/images from our events featuring players on social media and USABL.com. If you have concerns, notify us in writing prior to participation.
  8. Confidentiality and Non-Promotion Agreement: All communications, information, and materials received from USABL are confidential and are not to be shared for the benefit of any other baseball organization. You are prohibited from promoting any other organization or event at USABL events.
  9. Continuing Acknowledgment: By adding the participant to the official USABL roster, the parent/guardian acknowledges that these terms automatically apply to all future participation. This constitutes a legally valid electronic signature under the E-SIGN Act and UETA.
  10. Acknowledgment of Terms: I HAVE READ THIS RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT, FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS TERMS, AND UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE GIVEN UP SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS BY AGREEING TO IT.

By adding my child/ward to the official USABL roster, I consent and agree to his/her release provided above for all Releasees, and I do release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees for any and all liabilities incident to my minor child's participation, EVEN IF ARISING FROM THEIR NEGLIGENCE, to the fullest extent provided by law.
